They won the first match 30-26, faltered the second, losing 26-30, and completely taking over the third and fourth match, winning 30-28 and 30-27 respectively.
Head Coach Staci Elias was pleased with the outcome, but she is still seeing room for improvement.
"I think we accomplished what we wanted to accomplish. We got a win out of it and we accomplished a lot of our team goals that we have set , but it was also frustrating because I believe we have better ball control than that team did," Elias said.
Elias also stated that they need to have a stronger defense to be successful, but they got the win and that was the important thing.
The T-Birds were almost perfect with serving percent as they made 95% of their serves.
Freshman Kelli Cole was the leading scorer for the night with 11 points, followed closely by Darcie Schmitz and Savannah Thomas, each with 10.
Cole had two aces out of the 11 points, along with Thomas. Kate Hale layed down the most aces with three.
Schmitz dominated the net as she had 21 kills for the evening, while Cole had 10. Kim Schmelzle had eight, while Thomas and Hale each had seven.
Schmitz was all over the court as she led the team in digs with seven. Megan Schuler followed behind with six.
Hale led the team in blocks with three. Thomas followed with two and Cole, Schmitz, and Schmelzle each had one.
"We ran certain plays well and stepped up to the plate and I know the girls realized it too. It's just sometimes frustrating playing a team like that and not putting them away right off the bat," Elias said.
The girls will play at home on October 10 against Dodge City.
